CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Manipulation of the spine and extremities correct fixations which cause muscular skeletal pain. Back pain is debilitating often leaving the sufferer unable to even walk, let alone function normally. The Dr. Creech and Dr. Nothold know this and strive to quickly relieve that pain and get you back on your feet. Chiropractic manipulation, or chiropractic adjustment, is a therapy applied to the spine and extremities to restore movement and reduce pain.

Upon your initial appointment at Performance Sport and Spine, a chiropractic physician will examine your spine and extremities to identify the cause of your pain. Don’t delay treatment if you are experiencing pain. Injuries, no matter what the cause, can worsen rapidly if you do not start a manipulation therapy as soon as possible.

ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES

Active Release Techniques® is the gold-standard of non-invasive treatment for soft-tissue and nerve issues, such as strains, sprains, and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Dr. Creech and Dr. Nothold will provide hands-on, movement-based approaches that will swiftly alleviate pain and restore function, ensuring fuller, faster recovery compared to traditional therapy methods.

DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling, also called trigger point dry needling, employs thin filiform needles to penetrate the skin and underlying muscles and connective tissue in order to relieve persistent pain, boost range of motion and return you to normal function and the active lifestyle you desire. At Performance Sport and Spine, our doctors often use it as part of a larger treatment plan that can include posture correction, stretching, exercises, electrical stimulation, and more.

Dry needling is often used to treat myofascial pain. The root myo refers to your muscles, while fascia refers to the connective tissue between the muscles. Myofascial pain is considered a chronic pain disorder that can affect people for months or even years. We’ve found that dry needling is a safe and cost-effective pain reliever for patients who have not seen their symptoms improve with other treatments and want relief fast.

RECOVERY

At Performance Sport and Spine, we integrate the best possible options to elevate your recovery. Available to our patients, Cold Plunge, Sauna and Elevated Legs Compression Boots are all options for your use. Cold Plunging can reduce muscle damage, soreness, and inflammation and can help return muscle to normal strength. Sauna usage can reduce muscle soreness, Increase blood circulation, support the lymphatic system, and can improve tissue health.

Elevated Legs Compression Boots are a recovery tool that uses air compression to massage legs and help with recovery:. The boots have overlapping chambers that inflate and deflate in sequence to massage the legs. This helps to reduce swelling, stiffness, and soreness.

LASER THERAPY

Laser therapy works through a process called photobiomodulation. The laser produces a beam that is near an infrared frequency. When it is absorbed by the body’s cells, a cascade of events occurs resulting in an increased production of cellular energy. With increased energy the body is able to better handle inflammation and increase the clearance of damaged cells. The laser is absorbed by the cell, This boost of energy also increases circulation, reduces inflammation and improves healing.

FUNCTIONAL REHAB EXERCISES

Functional Rehabilitation Exercises are used in combination with our other treatments options and consist of physio-therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle hacks to get through your day while coping with pain.

The inability to perform unavoidable lifestyle and do day-to-day tasks due to pain, is something we see a regularly in our clinic. This is where the FUNCTIONAL aspect of rehab takes place. These modalities work down to the cellular level of healing, often bringing more circulation to the area to remove unwanted toxins, or creating a therapeutic level of inflammation to promote healing.

Functional muscle testing can help the detective process of finding which muscles are compensating for others and if there is a neurological disconnect from the brain to the body part that is hurting.  When we perceive pain or injury to a body part, the nervous system brilliantly adapts a new way of performing the same task while avoiding the injured area.  Over time, this becomes a compensatory habit that causes muscles to go “off-line” from the brain.  By performing certain exercises or stretches, we attempt to "re-connect" the brain to the body part.  There will be "homework" for the you to do in order to re-establish this brain-body connection.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow or Qi (pronounced "chee"). It is based on the concept that there are meridians or pathways in the body through which vital energy flows, and the balance of this energy is crucial for health.

The needles used in acupuncture are typically very fine, and they are inserted into specific acupuncture points along the meridians. The goal is to restore the balance of energy and promote the body's natural healing processes. Acupuncture is often used to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and address various health conditions.

While acupuncture has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine, it has gained acceptance and popularity in Western countries as a complementary or alternative therapy for certain medical conditions. It is important to seek acupuncture treatment from qualified and trained practitioners.
